The kiwi. What an odd, little thing — a furry, brown egg with a delicious, seedy neon green fruit inside. It’s a fruit salad regular that’s often overlooked, even in its summertime abundance. Believe it or not, this oddball is perfect for buttoning down a classic martini into something you can sip leisurely at a pool party without coming across a pretentious Pete or Patty.
2 tsp. simple syrup
3 oz. citrus vodka
Peel and halve 1 kiwi, then place fruit in a cocktail shaker. Add 2 teaspoons of simple syrup in shaker then muddle together. Chill a martini glass by placing ice and water into it and set aside. Add 3 ounces of citrus vodka to the cocktail shaker then shake vigorously. Dump the ice and water out of the martini glass. Strain cocktail into glass and garnish with a kiwi slice.
