The Trump administration’s proposed elimination of an already embarrassingly small amount of funding toward the arts threatens more than artists’ livelihoods; it is a gesture of constraint — one, based in control, that reduces critical engagement and the questioning of authority. AcA Director Gerd Wuestemann recently addressed our community with a powerful sentiment: Great art deserves a better nation. — JB
