Grambling State University President Rick Gallot was expected to take over as the University of Louisiana System president Jan. 1. But with only a few days remaining in the year, the UL System board has not extended him a contract offer.

Gov.-elect Jeff Landry indicated, in an interview with reporters Wednesday, he wants to talk to both the board and Gallot before the deal is finalized.

Roundup: House unanimously passes Bishop’s spending bill

Included in the bill are three capital outlay projects for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette: $18 million for the Madison Hall renovations; $13.8 million for planning and construction of an engineering classroom building; and $13,350,000 for planning and construction of a health care education and training facility.
