The gist: On Saturday, March 30, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Louisiana Economic Development is hosting a career fair in Baton Rouge to help CGI fill the 400 new jobs the consulting giant is creating in Lafayette.

ICYMI: Last May, CGI announced plans to bring those new jobs to Lafayette, doubling its local workforce.

LED’s an equal opportunity poacher. In January, LED hosted a job fair to help IBM recruit people in Lafayette to work in Baton Rouge. Seeing state government help Baton Rouge poach tech talent from Lafayette upset some locals, since we need to be growing that workforce rather than losing it. So it’s reassuring to see the agency support the growth of Lafayette’s tech industry.

CGI’s hiring more than 100 positions in the following fields:
– Business analyst and reporting
– Database engineer
– DevOps engineer
– Software engineer
– Operation support roles
– Developers and architects for multiple languages and platforms
