LGH, Ochsner take next step in merger

The Boards of Trustees of Lafayette General Health and New Orleans-based Ochsner Health have approved and signed a definitive agreement for LGH to merge with Ochsner. The systems announced the merger in September.

The two systems say today’s agreement is the next step in the process of forming “the most comprehensive healthcare provider in the Gulf South, focused on expanding access to high-quality care and improving the long-term health and wellness of communities across the region.”

“Given the challenges the COVID-19 pandemic presents to healthcare, forging smart partnerships to strengthen healthcare in Louisiana and to take a united approach to serving our region has never been more critical,” the systems write.

The health systems will continue to seek all necessary regulatory and other approvals to finalize the merger.
