During the first two days of early voting for the upcoming election, 3,960 people voted early, 1,958 on Nov. 3 and 2,002 on Nov. 4, according to data provided by Lafayette Parish Registrar of Voters Charlene Meaux.

Early voting counts have risen by more than 350% in Lafayette Parish since 2011, with nearly 17,200 voters having already cast their ballots early ahead of Saturday’s election, data shows.

After hearing testimony for about six hours from witnesses called by Guillory’s attorney, District Judge Thomas Frederick granted a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Frederick said Guillory did not present enough evidence to convince him to approve an injunction halting Boulet’s campaign messaging accusing the incumbent mayor-president of corruption.
